The Launch X-431 Master is a direct replacement for the best selling X-431 scan tool. The Master has acquired all the diagnostic functions of the X-431, with a number of improvements. An all new integrated structure allows faster software download times, speeding up ECU communication and, at the same time, providing enhanced software security.

The new platform represents the highest level of diagnostic technology. Functions available include, read/erase DTC's, read datastream digitally and by waveform, diesel injector coding, component actuation, service light reset, brake caliper retraction, ECU coding and many other advanced functions. Updates come on an almost daily basis and 3 years such updates are supplied free with the X-431 Master. Electing not to renew the software contract brings no financial penalties of any kind. Warranty is 2 years.

One 16 pin connector is now used to communicate with all cars fitted with a standard J1962 OBD connector and this replaces the external Super-16 adapter needed for both the X-431 and Launch Autobook.

The X-431 Master has 24V operating capability enabling it to work with different input voltages, whilst providing unit protection from unexpected voltage surges.

In any case, the official UK Launch Master comes with an extra 2 years' updates (worth £625 plus VAT) over and above the 1 year normally supplied. What is the cost of updates?

Is there a penalty for missing updates?

There is NO penalty whatsoever. When your free update period expires, you can wait for 6 months, a year, even two years and then, when you buy, your updates run from that date and everything you missed comes FREE!
